The Post-It
The Post-It
All right, I will admit, I like loud music. I always have (I think my mom can attest....let's think 2nd grade, the silver boom box with two tape decks, Madonna.....1985 Like a Virgin....1986 True Blue....I don't think I ever shut it off.) Anyways, this was definitely one of the things that I missed while I was in Switzerland, actually really besides my family and friends, I think this was the only thing that I missed. I had no stereo, no car, no loud music. So, I've been making up for that since I've been home...but I swear in the car only, not in my apartment (and maybe once or twice at my parents house while I was living there while there were gone....maybe.)
I know this is an old building, so I do try to be extra careful not to make too much noise and to be respectful of the others living in the building (while some others decide to hang pictures into brick walls at 11pm). I tip toe in the dining room in the morning because that floor creaks like you wouldn't believe.
Anyways, this evening, I go to walk out my front door to get the mail and I notice something on the door. Mind you, I haven't been out the front door in 5 days at least - I usually only check the mail about once a week, it's all usually bills anyways and sometimes I think if I just don't look, maybe they'll go away. So, I stop and notice there's a post-it on my door. Who knows how long it's been there.
I read the post-it, "Hi there can you lower the volume please. thanks. apt #4 Mona." Ok, now I've met Mona, she's a nice girl. Couldn't she have just knocked on the door and asked - she had to leave a post-it? And, I actually really wish she would have just knocked because I have no idea what I was doing that was too loud - was it the radio? the tv? When did this happen? 'Cause quite frankly I was barely home for the past week - Tues was Pistons at D's, Wed I can't remember at all, Thurs was Vball and then Pistons, Fri I drove to Gaylord and didn't get back until last night. I didn't have any crazy parties. No loud music days.
Anyways, the post-it made me laugh and I couldn't quite think of it, but I knew there was some show or movie where someone's boyfriend broke up with them on a post-it. Finally, I had to google it - it was Carrie and Berger from Sex and the City. Berger broke up with her on a post-it. Haha that was so funny.
Now I'm not saying Mona and I are through - I'm going to lay low for a bit and try to be a better neighbor - if I was being a bad one in the first place when I was hardly ever here the past week. Besides, the post-it has a Central Michigan University stamp on it...she's a Chippewa.
